    Description

    SCARCE original large WWI German Iron Cross 1914-1915 steel placard for the state of Baden-Württemberg.
    Large 6.5 inch by 6.5 inch steel plate that shows that it was originally nickel plated on the front to represent the silver frame of iron cross award. The enamel utilizing various color is absolutely beautiful and exhibits only minor crazing. Reverse shows some paint loss and has a threaded stud for mounting. Dates shown on face are 1914-1915 right below the imperial crown. Also on the face are the words, “Treue um Treue”, or “Loyalty for Loyalty”. It also happen to be a very catchy marching song of the time.
