    Description

This is a very fine World War I German 1914 Iron Cross 6-Place Parade Mounted Medal Bar with capture paper that is in excellent condition. The medal bar consists of the 1914 Prussian Iron Cross 2nd Class, the Wurttemberg Bravery Medal, the 1914-1918 Hindenburg Honor Cross with Swords, the Police 25-Year Long Service Medal, the Hungarian 1914-1918 War Commemorative Medal, and the Bulgarian 1914-1918 War Commemoration Medal. The bar is with double draped ribbon mounting with planchets overlapping. The ribbons are clean, crisp, and with vivid colors. The reverse of the bar is faced with grass green wool that is hand sewn to the bar. The brass pin and catch assemblies are both present and remain fully functional. Accompanying this beautiful medal bar is the original capture paper which lists the following articles of captured enemy material:
    6 pairs of Civilian socks
    1 Wash Cloth
    Foreign Coins
    German Medals
    Photographs
This group was brought home by a member of the U.S. 100th Division, 398th Infantry Regiment and purchased from the family of the veteran. We were told that the socks and wash cloth we used and worn out over time and the foreign coins divided among the family. The medals and photos were the only things that were offered for sale. These photos are the souvenir type that were sold to tourists prior to and during the war. This is a truly a beautiful looking set of veteran bring-back items that remain in excellent, undamaged condition.
