    Description

    WELSH LOVESPOON
This is a new, hand-made Welsh lovespoon. The custom of giving lovespoons has existed in Wales for over 300 years. The hand-made spoon was a token of lasting affection made by a young man for his sweetheart.
Today, spoons made by local craftsmen still can be given with love or affection, or just as a unique gift.
This spoon measures 11 3/4 inches long by 2 inches wide.
Symbols on this spoon include 2 hearts: in Welsh that is called "Dwy Galon," meaning "togetherness."
A little imagination is needed to see the ribbon pass through the two hearts in this spoon. The ribbon represents the idea of two lives becoming one as a result of two hearts becoming romantically entwined. The word "ribbon" in Welsh is "Rhuban," meaning "endless love."
