Archive of (7) Presidential Commissions of Charles Augustus Wikoff (March 3, 1837 – July 1, 1898), who was a United States Army officer serving from American Civil War until he became the most senior ranking American Army officer killed in the Spanish American War. In descending chronological order:
(1) "from the seventh day of April, 1862, as Captain, "for gallant and meritorious service at the battle of Shiloh, Tennessee"; signed September 10, 1866, signed by President Andrew Johnson (stamped signature) and Edwin Stanton (also stamped);
(2) November 25, 1863, as a Major, for gallant and meritorious service at the battle of Chickamauga Georgia and Missionary Ridge, Tennessee"; signed March 13, 1867 by President Andrew Johnson (stamped signature) and Edwin Stanton (also stamped);
(3) August 15, 1864, "Captain in the Fifteenth Regiment of Infantry, signed June 1, 1865 by President Andrew Johnson and Secretary of War Edwin Stanton;
( 4) August 15, 1864, Captain, 74th Regiment of Infantry, Signed April 11, 1867, by President Andrew Johnson (stamped signature) and Edwin Stanton (also stamped);
(5) December 8, 1886, as Major in 14th Regiment of Infantry, signed on January 10, 1887, by President Grover Cleveland, and Secretary of War William C Endicott;
(6) November 1, 1891, Lieutenant Colonel of Infantry, signed January 7, 1892, by President Benjamin Harrison and Secretary of War Steven B Elkins;
