Description
Original hand written Civil War soldiers diary from 1864...it has a written note on front page that " this diary was taken from the battlefield of Haws Shop Virginia-the owner was killed "...i think its a Union soldier diary that was taken by a Confederate ( i have several papers and documents of a Confederate estate and this was among them )...its a small paper diary with no cover and dated Jan 16 1864 to June 2 1864-the battle of Haws Shop was May 28th so dates dont line up excatly but he may have written info on wrong dates etc...its hard to read-in pencil and smudged a little...tells the weather every day and does have accounts such as picket duty, marching, getting fake confederate money, heavy fighting in evening etc...you ll have to spend time to diect it..condition is ok for paper-last page is loose and its 5 x 3"...looks and displays well and is guaranteed original and authentic ...Shipping is via USPS in US and overseas…check listing for other period Civil War items including several Confederate documents...always glad to combine on multiple buys when possible
