    Instituted in 1905 by King Friedrich August of Saxony and awarded for war merit.
    This medal was awarded in bronze to civilians and enlisted men (up to the rank of Gefreiter)
    and in silver to NCO ranks. Saxonian equivalent of Prussian Iron Cross 2nd class.
    Obverse: The monogram of Friedrich August 'FA' surmounted by a crown and surrounded by an olive wreath.
    Reverse: The inscription 'Friedrich August - Medaille' on two lines with a vine scroll at the top and bottom.
    Medal offered in this auction is example made of bronze.
    Diameter ca. 28 mm.
    Condition as seen on photos.
    Comes mounted on WW2 era replacement ribbon (UV NEGATIVE)
    of yellow colour with two light blue stripes,
