  • Condition: This hardback is in very good condition. It is bound with paper over boards versus cloth, and thus fragile. It has clean covers with no markings or soiling except for five pinpoint black spots (one seen on the front cover photo just above the "m" in American. There is a tiny bit of exposure to the cover corners and a light bump to the rear top spine corner. Clean interior with no markings or soiling. No damage to pages. No cracks to interior hinges. Binding remains tight and square. This book appears never to have been read. A very nice copy for 1908!

    Up for purchase is a very rare hardback copy of
    Hopi Songs
    by Benjamin Ives Gillman. It was published in 1908 by the Houghton Mifflin Company, and issued as A Journal of the American Ethnology and Archaeology being the Fifth Volume of the Hemenway Southwestern Expedition. The songs were recorded on the newly invented photograph beginning in 1891. The book measures 7.25 x 9.5-inches in size, and contains 235 pages. See photos for more details.
