Established on 10 May 1901 by Kaiser Wilhelm II, the King of Prussia and Emperor of Germany.
There were two versions of the medal - combatant one in bronze and a noncombatant in steel.
The bronze medal was a reward for service by German troops and civilians during the Boxer Rebellion.
The steel medal was awarded to people contributing to the war effort at home and the sailors
of the merchant fleet transporting the soldiers to China.
The initial design came from Wilhelm II himself and was executed by professor Walter Schott.
The medals were produced by the company Mayer & Wilhelm in Stuttgart.
There were also 14 medal clasps awarded for involvement in battles.
Size approx. 32,6 x 35,1 mm.
Comes mounted on a piece of reproduction ribbon (UV NEGATIVE),
accompanied with original Weimar era ribbon in medal bar width (25 mm) - please see the last 4 pics.
Worn condition as seen on the pictures.
The jumpring and ribbon ring are replacements from patinated brass.
