    1. Alison W. Ember son signed note about his payment as a disabled soldier dated Jan 3, 1876, directed to G.H. Greer, another Confederate Lt. Col. Alison was in the 57th VA Infantry and was captured at Gettysburg furloughed in June 1864 with wounds.
    2. 1878 G.H.T. Greer signed as Clerk of Court in an accounting involving Col. W.T. James - aide to General Jubal Early in 1863 and credited with capturing 50 Union soldiers at Gettysburg on July 1, 1863 - wounded at Somerville Ford on Sept 14, 1863 and lost his left arm. After the war Greer was elected to the House of Delegates and served as Clerk of Court from 1871-1897.
