Silver / lucite magnifier from Maison Christofle, Paris.
Model "Cariatides" representing an erotic scene with a group of naked women entwined, by the sculptor Jean Filhos (1921 - 2002).
Jean Filhos studied architecture and sculpture. He abandoned the architecture profession to devote himself entirely to sculpture and silversmithing. He created a series of erotic pieces that are highly collectible.
Silverplated bronze desk magnifier / paper weight bearing a sculpted top as described above on a Lucite magnifying body.
Christofle hallmarks on reverse, and the magnifier measures 10 1/4" long.
In good condition with some signs of use and normal wear. Please see all photos.
