With realistic bark, leaves, tendrils and bunches of grapes. The whole standing on three finely scrolled feet. Each of the parts can be individually removed. Each of the candle sconces can be individually unscrewed. The three branches can be removed from the base and the main entwined stem can also be unscrewed from the base. The three decorative pieces at the foot of the trunk are attached with a nut from the underside (*note). Also the three decorative pieces at the edges of the base are numbered one two and three with corresponding markings on the base and each attached with three nuts from the underside. Each of the arms are numbered one, two and three with corresponding marks on the base as are the decorative pieces at the foot of the trunk.
There are no maker markings on the piece, however this can be attributed to Bradbury of Sheffield. This firm was renowned for the extremely high quality of its silver plate work. This piece would date from about the 1890.
This is really a remarkable piece. The attention to details is astonishing and the workmanship is of the greatest quality.
It stands 21" high and 14" across. Weight circa 4 kilos. A stupendous addition to any formal dinner table.
*note: one of the three decorative pieces at the foot of the trunk as one small leaf missing. It is completely unnoticeable.
