    Description

    1891 note signed by James Grant Wilson (1832-1914) who was a brevet brigadier general in the civil war after service in the 15th Illinois Cavalry and then as colonel of the 4th U.S. Colored Cavalry.  Postwar he became a noted speaker and biographer.  Note on stationery of Cranstons on the Hudson; mounted to album page at left.
