Description

This is a nice, original printing of
Transactions of Collections of the American Antiquarian Society Volume II
. Published by the Society, Cambridge (1836). Brown boards with green leather spine. Previously possessed by Frederick Gookin, a prominent statesman and Art devotee. Included in the volume is the beautiful hand colored Gallatin Map of the Indian Tribes of America 1600-1800. I suspect that it is virtually impossible to find an example of this work with the valuable map present.
Measures 6.5" x 10" and contains 573 pages.
There is wear and discoloration to edges and surfaces of boards and spine, most of the label on spine is worn away. Stamp from the society on front end page (along with signature of Frederick Gookin), as well as a stamp on third page. Pencil mark on title page. Interior pages good, they have some degree of foxing throughout. Volume and pages very much intact. The wonderful hand colored Hon. A Gallatin map is present and in very nice condition. It measures approx
17" x 16 1/2"  Has been folded in place for nearly 200 years and it has creasing at those folds. There are no separations or tears at folds. A small 1 1/2" tear at connection to book at spine. This is a remarkable find !
Please study photos carefully and Email with any question. A wonderful addition to any collection!
